Clarendelle Saint-Émilion 2020
Clarendelle is a project by Clarence Dillon and was launched in 2005. Almost 85 years after buying the famous ‘first-growth estate’, Château Haut-Brion, Clarence Dillon created ‘Clarendelle’: affordable Bordeaux appellation wine. Clarendelle offers a range of premium Bordeaux wines, including red, white, rosé and a dessert wine. The style of the wines reflects beautiful blends, defined by balance, elegance and complexity.
The wines come with the guarantee of Domaine Clarence Dillon's unique winemaking, blending expertise and quality (Château Haut-Brion, Château La Mission Haut-Brion, Château Quintus) and the estate's oenologists make the wines. Each year, the diversity of blends produces quality wines that highlight all the characteristics of the vintage.
The grapes for the Bordeaux red blends are based on Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc and are sourced from various Bordeaux regions including the appellations of St Émilion, Haut Médoc and Pessac-Léognan and some of the fruit comes from Château Haut-Brion, Château La Mission Haut-Brion and Château Quintas. The wines are balanced and elegant.
As ‘vins de garde’, the Clarendelle wines mature patiently in the estate's cellars and are released when the wines fully highlight their qualities, are perfectly drinkable or can continue to mature in another cellar for several more years.
A brilliant dark red colour. The wine is powerful with notes of blackcurrant, blackberry and blueberry and floral notes of violets develop on aeration. Silky and fresh on the palate with toasted notes and velvety tannins, accompanied by delicious overtones of ripe fruit. A well-balanced, elegant, full-bodied and powerful wine with nice concentration and a lovely finish.
