Tasting note

Nose

The nose starts with a powerful peat smoke that immediately grabs your attention, as you would expect from a true Islay whisky. Beneath the smoke lie fruity notes of ripe apple and citrus, giving the scent a slight freshness. Further back come hints of spiciness - think black pepper and nutmeg - and a touch of vanilla and butterscotch that give it a subtle sweetness.

Taste

At the first sip, Smokehead Rock Edition 2 makes a bold impression. The peat smoke is firmly present, with an earthy and slightly medicinal flavour typical of Islay. As the whisky opens up on the tongue, sweeter flavours of toffee and honey emerge, nicely balanced by a spicy spiciness of black pepper and a hint of ginger. The smoky and sweet notes are further enriched by a touch of chocolate and orange peel, adding pleasing complexity and depth.

Finish
