Highland Park Sigurd
The Highland Park Sigurd, part of the impressive Warrior Series, pays homage to Norse warrior culture and the legendary hero Sigurd. Crafted by the iconic distillery on the Orkney Islands, this whisky combines Highland Park’s signature style with rich depth and complexity. The use of American oak and European oak sherry casks creates a perfect balance of sweetness, spiciness, and gentle smoke. Sigurd is not only a tribute to Viking heritage but also a stunning whisky that will delight any whisky enthusiast.
Tasting note
Nose
An inviting blend of honey, ripe peach, and candied orange, complemented by hints of cinnamon, nutmeg, and a touch of peat smoke. Subtle notes of oak and vanilla add depth.
Palate
Full-bodied and rich, with layers of toffee, dark chocolate, and dried fruits like raisins and figs. The spiciness from the sherry casks shines through with accents of clove and black pepper, while the peat adds a gentle, smoky warmth.
Finish
Long and warming, with lingering notes of honey, sweet spices, and soft smokiness. The finish is perfectly balanced and refined.
Highland Park Distillery
Highland Park Distillery is located on the Orkney Islands, north of mainland Scotland, near the town of Kirkwall. Founded in 1798, Highland Park is one of the oldest legal distilleries in Scotland and has a rich history dating back to the illegal distillery of Magnus Eunson, a local smuggler and church official.
A specific feature of Highland Park is the use of locally extracted peat, from the Hobbister Moor, which gives a unique and subtle smoke note to the whisky. In addition, the distillery still partly uses traditional floor malting methods, where the barley is turned by hand during drying. Highland Park whiskies are known for their complex and balanced flavour profiles, with notes of honey, heather, fruit and a distinctive light smokiness.
The whisky is mainly matured in European and American oak sherry casks, which contributes to its rich, deep flavours and aromas. Highland Park remains an icon in the whisky world, valued for its tradition and craftsmanship.
