Tasting note
Nose
This whisky opens with a fresh and delicate aroma, characterised by bright notes of summer flowers and a hint of grass. Fruitiness is evident, with sparkling notes of green apple and subtle hints of citrus. This light and lively nose immediately indicates that we are dealing with a refined and elegant whisky. As the glass takes a breath, a hint of vanilla and almond is also released, coming from the long ageing in ex-bourbon casks.
Taste
On the palate, this whisky is silky smooth and complex. The palette begins with pronounced flavours of pineapple upside-down cake, accompanied by a refreshing touch of lemon sorbet. The sweet and fruity opening is soon followed by a subtle spiciness. Nutmeg and cinnamon emerge, giving the whisky a warm layering without being overpowering. This harmony of sweet and spicy flavours creates a wonderful balance.
Finish
The finish is long and surprising. The fruity character lingers for a long time, almost effervescent, similar to the light feeling of popping candy on the tongue. The finish remains fresh and lively, with aftertastes of tropical fruit juice and lemon candy, underlining the elegance of this whisky. As the finish fades further, a hint of soft oak and a slightly creamy texture remain, giving the whisky a refined and long-lasting finish.
North British Distillery
The North British Distillery, located in Edinburgh, Scotland, is one of the largest producers of grain whisky in the country. Founded in 1885 by independent distillers, it was a response to the then monopoly of the Distillers Company Limited (DCL). The distillery plays an important role in producing whisky for many of the major blends, such as Johnnie Walker, Famous Grouse, and Cutty Sark.
