The Gladstone Axe - American Oak

The Gladstone Axe American Oak is a blended malt whisky from Scotland, crafted from 14 different Highland and Islay malt whiskies. This whisky is aged in American oak ex-bourbon barrels, which contribute to its smooth and sweet character.

Tasting note

Nose

Complex aromas of caramel, toffee, vanilla, white pepper, dried banana, dried apricot, green apple, honey-oat granola, pistachio shells, and jute.

Taste

An abundance of American oak character with notes of vanilla, ice cream cone, caramel, a hint of cocoa powder, followed by pepper, cinnamon, banana bread, ginger root, rum and raisin, and creamy coffee in the finish.

Finish

Sweet roasted oak with hints of honey and vanilla and a gentle peppery finish.

This whisky is inspired by William Ewart Gladstone, a four-time Prime Minister of the United Kingdom in the 19th century, known for his passion for chopping down trees. This is reflected on the label, which features a portrait of Gladstone with an axe.
